The Markets in Crises Community of Practice respects privacy and your rights to control your personal data. Your support, your privacy and your trust are very important to us and inform our policies about how we use and protect your personal information.

Who are We?

The Markets in Crises Community of Practice is a global network engaging with and supporting markets in emergencies. It is hosted on an open-source discussion forum called Discourse. You can learn more about Markets in Crisis if you click on the link About MiC.

What information do we collect?

This describes how and what information is collected when you register on the MiC website and what data is gathered when you participate in the forum by reading, writing, and evaluating the content shared here.

When registering on the MiC website, you may be asked to enter your name and e-mail address. You may, however, visit the site without registering. Your e-mail address will be verified by an email containing a unique link. If that link is visited, it will verify that you control the e-mail address.

When registered and posting, the IP address that the post originated from is registered. We also may retain server logs which include the IP address of every request to their server.

How is your personal information stored?

The MiC website stores data in CDCK’s (Civilized Discourse Construction Kit) data centers and Amazon Web Services S3 in the United States and may be stored in data centers in other jurisdictions, such as Canada and the European Union. More information can be obtained here

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

  • To personalize your experience — your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs.
  • To improve our site — we continually strive to improve our site offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.
  • To improve customer service — your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs.
  • To send periodic emails — The email address you provide may be used to send you information, notifications that you request about changes to topics or in response to your username, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

Your rights over your personal data

CRS recognizes the rights of Data Subjects, including the right to access and the right of intervention (i.e. to rectify, erase, and restrict) over the processing of their personal data. Data Subjects also have the right to object to the processing of their Personal Data and to receive their data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to have such data transmitted to another data controller. Data Subjects can exercise their privacy rights by submitting a request via email to CRS’s Data Protection team. The request should clearly state the right(s) they wish to exercise, such as the right to access, the right of intervention (i.e., rectify, erase, or restrict), the right to object to the processing of their Personal Data. CRS must respond to the request and provide information on the action taken in response to the request within a reasonable time frame in accordance with the requirements of applicable data protection regulations.

We will always honor your wishes. If you have any concerns about how your information is handled, or to add your name to our do-not-share list please e-mail, call or write us. Please provide us with your exact name and address. We will be sure your name is not on any list we share with other organizations.
